About Therapy for Adoptive Children

"For out of a world so tattered and torn, You came to our house on that wonderful morn, And all of a sudden this family was born. Oh happy Adoption Day!

I worked with adoptive children for twenty years. Then I became an adoptive mother. And then I really became an adoption therapist. My children are my greatest teachers, humbling me, humanizing me, and reaching for compassion I did not know I had. They also provide my life with a meaning and joy that I am grateful for every day. I have an inside track because of them. I work with children with rage, with ADHD, with reactive attachment disorder, with grief for their lost parents, with trauma, with sexual abuse. I work with children who love their parents but are inconsolable; who are indifferent to their parents; and who hate their parents. I try to find the way into their hearts, and I help parents find it too. If you are worried, if you are disconnected from your child, if you are frustrated, if you sometimes can't love them, I've been there. I can help. I provide a distinctive blend of child therapy, parent coaching and family work to build the bridges necessary for adopted children to more deeply become a functional part of a positive family life.
